Kim's Prayer

"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." --2 Corinthians 4:8-9

I'm coming home.

I’m sitting in the Houston airport waiting for my flight home and I’m trying to process the news. It was not what I wanted to hear, but it could be worse. The cancer did not respond to my last chemo. It’s more active and they did a biopsy of a small mass in my neck. All still in the same general location and not showing up anywhere else.

They have put me on a new chemo drug combination that I will be able to do in Jonesboro and start Friday. I will get 2 doses 21 days apart and then come back to Houston for the same round of testing. Keep praying for my complete healing. I will not give up. As long as I have breath I will fight and continue to Praise God through the storm.

I'm thinking and praying for you tonight. I know how it feels to leave Houston with news you didn't expect. My sorority sister Debbie was diagnosed 5 years before I was (1992). She has had 3 recurrances and is healthy and happy today. She lives in St. Louis and works for Komen foundation. You certainly have a strong faith and many, many prayer warriors...

There are so many treatments to choose from and they will continue to search for the exact one that will work.

Faith and Hope,

Suzanne Callahan

Kim, Checking your blog for news of your trip. You have been in my thoughts and my prayers. Know that I love you and will continue to pray for your total healing! You are such a sweet blessing my friend.

Wanted you to know, met a girl originally from Pocahontas who just moved here. Probably wouldn't be cool to put her name on here...but, she knew of you and Mark's family. It was so good to hear her talk, she sounded like home!

Keep your chin up! We're going to lick this! Love, Wendy

Dear Kim,

We are studying the story of Joseph this week in BSF. During yesterday's lecture, Karon Fields stated that God always provides a way of escape in times of crisis and trials. Joseph's brother have plotted to kill him and have thrown Joseph into a pit with no seeming way of escape. Suddenly, Judah gets the bright idea of selling Joseph to the Ishmaelites instead of killing him so they might make a profit. At that point in the lecture I'm thinking so where is the way of escape? Then I realized, Joseph escaped death through his enslavement. When I think of a way to escape, I think of immediate victory that is total and complete. However, I am learning that God usually works in stages and that for many of us, there are "steps" in our way of escape. Joseph's complete victory was a few more crisis and few more years away.

God's way of escape is there for you. It may come in stages as your doctors try the different courses of treatment available. But like Joseph, I see your tremendous faith in God even when the way of escape is not clear. And like Joseph, your total and complete victory is certain.

Love and prayers,
Erin

I am so disappointed that you did not receive the news that we have all been praying for. Please rest assured that the prayers and committment from so many to see you through this storm will be unwaivering. Your name and prayer concerns are always on the minds of many, many people and I know the Lord will answer those prayers. My prayer for you today is that the Lord will protect your mind and heart from thinking or feeling anything other than complete and total healing soon! It WILL happen.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. Making One's Calling and Election Sure His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Pet 2-8 NIV)

Kim, You excel in the qualities given above and you are in our prayers every day.

Kim,
Jeannean Rollins here. I have Phillipians 4:4-7 on my bulletin board. I read it for times like these. "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again. Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." I trust in God's plan, as I know you do, too. Stay strong and keep praising God, and His perfect Will will be done in His time. You are inspiring so many people in so many ways, so there is much to rejoice, even in the face of this discouraging news.

Thank you for keeping us updated through this blog! I pray God's peace for you and your family.

Sweet Kim,

I just now read your blog. I love you, I love your faith and I love your family!! You are such an inspiration to me and to so many others. You are strong and courageous just like Joshua. I named my son(Oliver's best friend:)
after Joshua from the Bible. Joshua leads Israel's armies to victory. Through Joshua we learn that God will give victory to his people when they obey him. Kim, you have obeyed God every step of the way. I love you for this!!!! You praise God in the middle of the storms. We can all learn from you!!!! You are my HERO!!

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified;do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
Joshua 1:9 NIV

LOVE AND PRAYERS,
Beverly

P.S. I forgot to add this. Do you know what I see when I think of you? Not this young adult woman with 4 kids! But I see,(since I've known you since you were 3 or 4 yrs. old) this beautiful little girl running and playing through my house or yours, bouncing over the couch, hiding from your sister,John and Joel. You and John playing at Wesley church. Mrs. Bateman once told me that you and John were playing at the sink and you reached over and hit him on the head with a pot! Or you and Karen, John Joel and Jason and our familes going to the county fair at Fort Smith. That was a long time ago, but, your beautiful infectious, mischievious smile is not easily forgotten. Loved you a long time ago, love you still.
