Still Waiting!!!

I still haven't heard anything!! I promise the minute I get my marching orders I wil let you know!! Just keep praying, because I know prayer works. It has been nice to have this week and just be normal, whatever normal is around the McNabb household. The kids did not want to go to bed tonight because after watching American Idol, they think they are the next American idol. I love hearing from you guys! It's been so great to hear from so many people from so many different phases of my life. I can't even begin to express how humbling it is and how grateful I am for each of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support you have shown me. With so many people supporting me, I'm encourged that I can beat this thing. So many people have expressed how awesome M.D. Anderson is. I feel very confident about going there and I am anxious to hear something from them. Thanks for checking in, we'll talk soon.

Kim

Hey girl! I am responsible for our staff devotional and prayer time in the morning, and I was just going over some of my stuff. The passage I'm working on just made me think of you and how you continue to praise God in the midst of a trial because you really KNOW God and know that he has the power to work everything to his good and perfect will--the passage is Psalm 103:
"Praise the Lord, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits--who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies all your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's" (and you can read the rest if you like). And that is the God we serve! How awesome is that! I know you have moments when you are so scared, but the irony is that you are so brave because you know that whatever you are facing, God is big enough to handle it. Much love & prayers, April T.

PS--If you want to go with us on our fieldtrip next Wed. since Jackson and Oliver are going, you come right on--just let me know!

Hi Kim - The news of your blog is spreading rapidly - Sandi (Anderson Bryles) told me about your new fight and so here I am. It's been a long time. But I can see you are still as sweet as ever and I am so touched by your courage and faith. I wanted to send you a few words of encouragement, but seeing how you're handling this is without a doubt - inspirational to me. Please know you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. And if I can do anything else, just let me know. Love, Wendy Reeves

Hey Kim! Hopefully you will hear from Houston today. I can not imagine how hard the waiting must be for you and your family! There is a saying "let go and let God" that I try to remember. Course I tend to try and take over when things don't move as quickly as I like, but I am working on it. Your postings and the comments are like my new daily devotional. You are in my thoughts and prayers constantly, and you are truly an inspiration to many.

Kim, hopefully you will hear from Houston today. Mark and I both read your updates daily and are so amazed by your courage and strength. You are truly an inspiration to us and we pray daily for your continued strength through this difficult time. We are studying Psalms in Sunday School and last night when reading, I came across this verse that really touched me and made me think of you. Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." Your failth is truly inspirational. Please know that you and your family are always near to our hearts. - Karen Jones

Hi Kim,
You don't know me, but I am very good friends with your sister-in-law, Shannon. I spoke with her today and she gave me the update on your condition. Honey, if you knew how hard I prayed for you the first-go-round with this cancer fight, then really, you ain't seen nothin' yet! It's amazing what the power of prayer can do. I admire your tenacity and the inspirational way in which you are handling this challenge. Please know that you have many many people praying for you, hoping for a positive outcome. I will continue to read your blog, as it is an excellent reminder that we need to take advantage of the the blessings we are given on a daily basis -- the big ones as well as the little ones. There is so much stuff we take for granted. Please continue to keep the faith. With warmest regards, Karen S. (or as Shannon calls me, "The Diva" hahaha!)

Hey Kim,
I was given a book from Lee Cooper a few days ago called "Fresh Faith." The very first chapter talked about an amazing passage from the end of I Samuel that I immediately wanted to share with you... The story shares the absolute rock-bottom details of David's life. He has already conquered Goliath and is now being chased and threatened by King Saul. He has many close calls and has been on the run for awhile. David has run out of places to hide in Israel but has kept his own small army of about 600 men plus all of their wives and children. They decide to set-up camp and hide once again at a place called Ziklag.
David soon finds out that the Philistines have gone to war against Israel and, being the in-born fighter that he is, immediately offers himself and his army to fight with the Philistines. Unfortunately, David and his army get sent back to their camp, denied the privlidge to fight Israel.
When they approach their campsite at Ziglag, where they have left all of their families behind, they see smoke on the horizon. They soon find a dreadful site. Every wife, son, daughter, cow and lamb is gone. Someone has made a secret raid and has burned down the camp. They are stunned by the desolation and are heartbroken. They cry so hard that they run out of tears. Everything is lost. Anger and resentment immediately boil up and all of the army begins to lash out at David. They threaten to stone David for taking them away and allowing this to happen.
Then it reads in 1 Samuel 30:6: "But David found strength in the Lord his God." God strengthened David deep within his heart in a place that was completely unreachable by himself or any other person.
David regains his walk of grace with the Lord and asks Him what he should do: "Should I chase those who marauded our town, and if I do, will I find them?" God replies, "Yes, go after them and you will find them."
David convinces his army to take-off and they come across a beaten slave who had taken part in the raid of their families. This slave leads David and his army to the Amalekites who were celebrating their victory. They fight hard for a full 24 hours. All night and all day.
That day David found out that God was more than his creator; more than a defender; more than a rock or strong tower; more than a protector when you are hiding...David learned that God has a way of getting back what's been taken. What the enemy steals, God alone is able to recover.
David and his army were able to recover all of the wives, children and livestock, completely unharmed.
The writer uses this story to encourage us to take back what Satan is stealing from us-our faith. Vibrant, childlike trust in the risen Christ - the kind that changes the way you live, talk and feel.
Fight for it and keep it,
-Amy E.

Hey, Kim & Mark & Young ones. Our "connection" is just almost too much. The week after Christmas, I asked Shirley if she had talked with your mom, that Mary & Vic had been on my mind, and wondered if "everything" was okay with them and with you. She said no, but had been thinking of her very often, too. It looks like we would just finally figure it out after all these years that if we are constantly being reminded of each other that we should just stop and call. Upon receiving her note, the first thing I did after calling her was to put your name on our prayer list at Wesley. Your dad taught us how powerful prayer is through his ministry with us and your mom is living proof of its power, just as you and Karen both are. I am just fasinated with all this technology and am foregoing grading papers to post a blog!! Thanks, Mark. I wish I were closer so I could help with the kids and anything else, but you can count on our sincere, constant prayers and love. Blanche & Jerry

A great big hug and hello to all.
I'm sure the kids are very happy to see you two. God is so good and I am reminded of that in so many ways in my life and yours. John had a very serious back surgery in October and is back to work this week! This is after the Doc said he would not be able to return to his job. I had everyone praying for him and I would not listen to any negative word that anyone said. I practically cast it out in the name of Jesus. I never knew I could possess so much faith.
I am so thankful that God is working through the Doctors to completely heal you. Praise be to His Holy name. Shall we just start to preach or what?
Coincidence? I just read your last blog and checked in to comment and saw that just above was the most recent one. Blanche and Jerry!!!
We are all thinking and looking in the same direction-upward with prayers and thanksgiving.
Just thank God for your healing, not that it is going to be done, but that it has already occured.
Your faith and courage is so inspiring to me.
Our love and prayers are with you, love Shirley and Johnny
